ISPS Code Part B Section 9 / Information: The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) was adopted to establish an international framework for cooperation between Contracting Governments, Government agencies, local administrations and the shipping and port industries to detect security threats and take preventive measures against security incidents affecting ships or port facilities used in international trade and to establish relevant roles and responsibilities at the national and international level. ISPS Code Part B Section 9 requires the identification of restricted areas, access notices and forms of declaration on all ships. Part B 16.23 also requires that port facilities show similar identification. / The TSA's TWIC regulation introduces a new "Secure Area" which, like the "Restricted Area," must be designated by a sign or placard to make the person entering aware that they are required to have a TWIC in order to be granted unescorted access to the area. 33CFR 104.200(b)(12)(iii), 33 CFR 105.200 (b)(6)(iii)
